Saltwater Fishing
King salmon catch rates continues to taper off with just a few fish being harvested here and there.

The Ketchikan Sport Terminal Harvest Area will close Friday, July 31. King salmon bag and possession limits in this area will revert back to regionwide king salmon regulations on Saturday, August 1.

Coho catches have been a little spotty, however, catch rates continue to climb and should continue to climb through August and into September.

Pink and chum salmon are all showing up in good numbers now and should continue over the next couple weeks. Decent catches have been report both north and south of town.

Halibut catches have also been good and should remain thru the summer season.

Freshwater Fishing
Cutthroat and Rainbow trout fishing will continue to be productive over the summer months. Roadside anglers should give the Ward Lake, Harriet Hunt Lake, Talbot and Carlanna Lakes a try. If remote fishing is on your agenda, give the Naha or McDonald lake drainages a try.

Dolly Varden fishing should be picking up with many fish following the salmon returns into freshwater. Fishing should continue to improve over the next couple months and into fall.
