Saltwater Fishing

Marine anglers are still finding a few stray kings, but they are very few and far between.

Coho fishing remains excellent with good catches being reported both north and south of town. Catch rates should remain good for the next couple weeks. Anglers fishing coho north of town should give Pup Island, Tatoosh Rocks, Vallenar Point and Caamano Point a try and to the south, try Mountain Point or Lucky Cove.

Marine catches of pink and chum have dropped off considerably, but that is normal for this time of year.

Halibut reports remain average to good throughout the Ketchikan area.

Freshwater Fishing
Cutthroat and Rainbow trout catch reports in local lakes has been good. Roadside anglers should try Ward Creek. If remote fishing is on your agenda, give the Naha River, McDonald Lake, or Fish Creek a try.
Anglers will find plenty of pink and chum in freshwater streams now and cohos are starting to show up and they will continue to build throughout the month.
