Saltwater Fishing
King salmon catch rates are slowing down, though harvest reports from the terminal area continue to be good. The two Ketchikan Sport Terminal Harvest Areas are open from through July 31 for expanded king salmon limits for all anglers. These openings allow for increased opportunity to harvest Alaska hatchery king salmon returning to the Ketchikan area. Anglers wanting more information regarding these openings should consult the 2014 regulation book and the 2014 new releases.

Anglers have been reporting good coho salmon fishing and catch rates for both pink and chum salmon are picking up.  Halibut harvest reports continue to be good should continue to be good through the summer.   Anglers interested in checking out some historical harvest timing should click on the Marine Harvest Rates tab above.

Freshwater Fishing
Cutthroat and Rainbow trout catch reports in local lakes has been good. Roadside anglers should try Ward Creek. If remote fishing is on your agenda, give the Naha River, McDonald Lake, or Fish Creek a try.
Dolly Varden fishing along the roadside/shoreline should continue to improve as water temperatures warm and Dolly Varden migrate from overwintering lakes.

***Reminder
All anglers are responsible for knowing the current regulations for the area that they will be fishing. Regulation handbooks and copies of the most current regulatory changes are available on this website and at the Ketchikan ADF&G office, (907) 225-2859.
