Freshwater Fishing
Steelhead runs are winding down now with most systems having already peaked and most fish returning to marine waters. Freshwater temps continue to increase, and anglers will see good rainbow and cutthroat trout fishing increase. Anglers looking for some good trout fishing opportunities should consider Control, Klawock, Luck, and Red Bay Lakes as well as the Thorne River drainage.
Anglers will also find good Dolly Varden fishing in streams and estuaries as these fish move from their overwintering lakes into saltwater.
Saltwater Fishing
Marine angling effort in the Craig and Klawock area is slowly picking up and they still catching a few kings. King fishing will continue to improve, historically peaking around the end of June.
Marine anglers are even picking up a few halibut and harvest rates will continue to improve as we move into the summer months.
