Freshwater Fishing
Steelhead runs are in full swing with most systems peaking any day now. Steelhead anglers should try the Thorne River, Harris River, Klawock River, Eagle Creek, Staney Creek and Ratz Creek just to name a few. Freshwater temps continue to increase, and anglers will see good rainbow and cutthroat trout fishing increase. Anglers looking for some good trout fishing opportunities should consider Control, Klawock, Luck, and Red Bay Lakes as well as the Thorne River drainage.
Anglers will also find good Dolly Varden fishing in streams and estuaries as these fish move from their overwintering lakes into saltwater.
Saltwater Fishing
As typical for this time of year, there is very little marine angling effort in the Craig and Klawock area. However, there are a few kings being harvested and fishing will continue to improve, historically peaking around the end of June.
