Regulation Reminders
• Emergency Orders are in effect for the following areas:
• In Stormy Lake: The retention of Arctic char/Dolly Varden while fishing through the ice is prohibited thru the 2014-2015 winter fishery as part of an effort to restore the native fish.
• Because of warm weather, overflow is present on area lakes.
• Remember to purchase your new 2015 sport fishing license before fishing.
Stocked Lakes:
• Large lakes did not gain normal ice thickness during the 2014-2015 winter because of warm winter temperatures. Substantial overflow is now present on the lakes.
• Stocked Lakes, as well as unstocked lakes, in this area are producing great catches.
• Recent rain and lack of snow has made access road and trail conditions to the lakes slippery and potentially treacherous. Overflow is present on all lakes.

• At Island Lake, several large Arctic char in the 3-6 pound range have been caught.
• Fishing at Scout Lake near Sterling has been good for rainbow trout. Arctic grayling have also been caught.
Hot Spot:
• Fishing at Sport Lake near Soldotna has been outstanding recently for land-locked salmon.
• Bait fished under a bobber and small ice-flies or single-hook tipped with bait fished about 4 to 6 feet under the ice well above the bottom of the lake is producing great catches.
• Contact the department office in Soldotna for recent ice fishing news and hot-spots because they change as the season progresses.
Fish Facts:
• Not including lakes that are stocked, there are a total of 212 lakes on the Kenai Peninsula that have been surveyed by Fish and Game that support game fish such as rainbow trout, lake trout and Dolly Varden. Many lakes are accessible from the road and you are likely to encounter few if any other anglers out on the lake while fishing.
