Rod Loaner Program Will Be Reinstated at Select ADF&G Offices

(Statewide) – Need fishing equipment?

Beginning Thursday, July 15, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game – Division of Sport Fish is reinstating the Rod Loaner Program at participating offices across the state.

The Rod Loaner Program lends fishing equipment to anglers at no cost for a period of no more than three days. Rods are loaned out on a first-come, first-served basis, and may not be reserved. There are currently six offices across the state that participate in the Rod Loaner Program. While equipment selections vary by office, gear type includes open water and ice fishing gear.

“We are excited to reinstate the Rod Loaner Program after temporarily suspending the program due to the pandemic,” Ryan Ragan, the Acting Statewide Communications Coordinator for the Division of Sport Fish, said. “The Rod Loaner Program is a great opportunity for anglers to check out fishing equipment and go fishing. The program is primarily focused on providing fishing equipment to anglers who want to try fishing and who may not have the appropriate gear. However, the equipment is available to anglers of all skill levels.”
