Online Fishing Forum: Ice Fishing 101

(Statewide) - Have you wanted to get your family interested in fishing, but haven’t been successful during the summer? The good news is ice fishing is a wonderful gateway to year-round fishing, and we can tell you how to get started! The Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G), Division of Sport Fish, will be hosting a beginner-level online fishing forum titled, “Ice Fishing 101,” on the Alaska Department of Fish and Game YouTube channel. The presentation will cover ice fishing basics, including ice safety, ice fishing gear, how to find an appropriate place to fish that meets your needs, which species are commonly fished for under the ice, which tackle to use, and how to find fishing regulations for the areas you are hoping to fish in. This fishing forum will be available on YouTube on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. ADF&G staff will be available to answer any questions in real-time on the YouTube chat from 6:00 p.m. until the close of the presentation. The presentation will then remain on the ADF&G YouTube channel and can be viewed any time after the premiere.
