(Anchorage) - The 2020 Youth-Only Fishery for king salmon on Campbell Creek in Anchorage will take place Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28, 2020, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. A survey was conducted on the creek this week and counts of king salmon are low. However, this creek provides great additional opportunities for anglers to catch rainbow trout and Dolly Varden. Adjacent to Campbell Creek off of East 76^th Avenue and King Street is Taku/Campbell Lake which has been stocked with rainbow trout and Arctic grayling and is also a great opportunity for young anglers to catch some fish! Adults are allowed to fish in the lake any time. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 concerns, ADF&G will not be providing loaners rods and gear this year for the Youth-Only Fishery.

Anglers who are 15 years of age and younger will have the opportunity to fish for king salmon on Campbell Creek between Dimond Boulevard and the Old Seward Highway. Youth anglers do not need a sport fishing license or king salmon stamp but do need a Sport Fish Harvest Record Card. Any king salmon harvested must be recorded immediately on the Harvest Record Card. Although people 16 years and older can assist youth anglers with landing a fish, this section of Campbell Creek is closed to all fishing, including catch-and-release, for anglers 16 years of age and older during this time. As with all fisheries in Alaska, the fish belongs to the angler that sets the hook.

The harvest limit for king salmon 20 inches or greater is one per day and one in possession. These kings count toward the Cook Inlet regional annual limit of five king salmon, 20 inches or longer. The harvest limit for king salmon less than 20 inches is ften per day and ten in possession. Campbell Creek is closed to fishing for other species of salmon at this time. Bait is allowed during this time; however, snagging is never allowed.
