PASAGSHAK RIVER DRAINAGE CLOSED TO SPORT FISHING FOR SOCKEYE SALMON AS OF JULY 2

Effective 12:01 a.m., Saturday, July 2, the Pasagshak River drainage is closed to sport fishing for sockeye salmon.

The escapement goal for sockeye salmon into the Pasagshak River drainage is 3,000 fish. As of June 29, the weir count was 373 sockeye salmon. Based on historical run timing, the department is projecting that the escapement goal will not be achieved. Therefore, sport fishing for sockeye salmon in the Pasagshak River drainage is closed until further notice.

Harvest opportunity may be allowed by subsequent emergency order if weir counts of Pasagshak River sockeye salmon improve and indicate the escapement goal will be achieved.

For more information, contact the Division of Sport Fish office in Kodiak at (907) 486-1880.
