RUTH BURNETT SPORT FISH HATCHERY DOORS TO OPEN DURING FAIRBANKS OUTDOOR SHOW

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game will open the doors to the Tanana Valley Fisheries Center at the Ruth Burnett Sport Fish Hatchery during the upcoming Fairbanks Outdoor Show April 25-27.

Visitors to the hatchery, located at 1150 Wilbur Street will be able to see, through the Fisheries Center viewing windows, where the fish are grown, and learn about how and why the hatchery produces tens of thousands of fish each year for area sport anglers.

A 5,000 gallon aquarium will display hatchery raised fish, which will be an immediate attraction when first entering the public gallery. Information will also be available about on-going department efforts to open the Tanana Valley Fisheries Center to the public over the coming months.

Department staff will be available to answer questions during the Outdoor Show hours of 2pm–8pm Friday, 10am-6pm Saturday, and 11am-5pm on Sunday. There is no admission charge to visit the Tanana Valley Fisheries Center. For more information contact Gary George, Hatchery Manager, at 907-451-2661.
