Abstract: Overview: This article is an overview of SPAM (Statistics program for Analyzing Mixtures), a software tool for computing the maximum likelihood estimates for a mixed population of stock analysis. SPAM has two basic modes of operation, estimation mode and simulation mode. Results can be output in an estimation file or a simulation file, both of which can be edited, analyzed and viewed in a Windows environment. SPAM is available free of chafe from the Alaska Department of Fish and Game Gene Conservation Laboratory.
