Emergency Orders and Regulation Reminders
- Emergency Orders are in effect for the following areas:
- In Stormy Lake: The retention of Arctic char and Dolly Varden is prohibited all year long, as part of an effort to restore this native fish.
- In Soldotna Creek Drainage Lakes: The retention of species other than northern pike is prohibited all year long in East and West Mackey, Union, and Derks Lakes, as part of an effort to restore native fish.
- The 2017 Southcentral Alaska Sport Fishing Regulations Summary booklet is available online, at ADF&G offices, and local vendors.
Salmon - Kenai & Kasilof Rivers
- Fishing for coho salmon on the Kenai River and Kasilof River picked up last week. Anglers are now achieving bag limits especially with recent increased passage. Fishing is expected to improve over the coming week. All indications are that cohos could be late this year.
- Fishing for sockeye salmon on the lower Kenai River continues to be good. The section below Skilak Lake to Bings Landing has been the most productive.
- Fishing for sockeye salmon in the Upper Kenai River and Russian River is good with higher passages of fish in recent weeks. Reminder: Fishing for sockeye salmon in the Russian River and confluence area ends after Sunday, August 20.
Resident Fish - Kenai & Kasilof Rivers
- Fishing for rainbow trout and Dolly Varden is picking up with king salmon beginning to spawn. Fishing should only improve from this point forward.
Lake Fishing
- Lake fishing for rainbow trout has been good.
Northern Pike
- All public accessible lakes on the Peninsula have had invasive pike removed.
