Area lakes are ice-free although some of the boat launch areas are still soft. Fishing in stocked lakes last week was a little slow. Recently stocked fish do not readily bite. This cooler weather and rain should help get the bite on.

Arctic grayling fishing in the upper Chatanika and Chena rivers was okay, and grayling fishing on the DCR is reported to be good and improving.

Tolovana drainage (including Minto Flats) opens June 1 to sport fishing for Northern pike.
