Regulation Reminders and Emergency Orders
- Anglers are reminded to review Emergency Orders and News Releases and the 2018 Southwest Sport Fishing Regulations Summary booklet for the Bristol Bay Area before heading out on their next fishing trip.
Emergency Orders
- Per Emergency Order No. 2-RS-5-43-18, effective July 19, 2018, the bag and possession limit for sockeye salmon was increased to ten fish in all waters of the Naknek River drainage. The limit for other salmon, except king and sockeye salmon, remains at five per day, five in possession.
- Per Emergency Order No. 2-RS-5-42-18, effective July 19, 2018, the bag and possession limit for sockeye salmon was increased to ten fish in all waters of the Alagnak River drainage. The limit for other salmon, except king, coho, and sockeye salmon, remains at five per day, five in possession.
- Per Emergency Order No. 2-RS-5-39-18, effective July 17, 2018, the bag and possession limit for sockeye salmon to ten fish in all waters of the Nushagak-Mulchatna River drainage, excluding the Wood River drainage. The limit for other salmon, except king and sockeye salmon, remains at five per day, five in possession.
- Per Emergency Order No. 2-RS-5-38-18, effective July 14, 2018, the bag and possession limit for sockeye salmon in the Kvichak River/Lake Iliamna drainage was restore from two fish to five fish. In addition, the four areas previously closed to sport fishing for sockeye salmon are reopened.
- Per Emergency Order No. 2-RS-5-28-18, effective July 4, 2018, the bag and possession limit for sockeye salmon was increased to ten fish in all waters of the Wood River drainage.
Regulation Reminders
- Sport fishing for king salmon is now closed throughout Bristol Bay.
Freshwater Fishing
Coho Salmon
- In the Naknek River drainage coho salmon fishing is reported as fair to good.
- In the Alagnak River drainage coho salmon are being caught and fishing is reported as good.
- In the Nushagak River drainage fishing is currently reported as poor to fair.
- In the Togiak River and nearby drainages fishing is reported as very good.
Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden, Arctic Grayling
- In the Naknek River drainage fishing for rainbow trout is reported as fair to good this week.
- In the Togiak River and nearby drainages fishing is reported as fair to good.
- In the Wood River Lakes system fishing is reported as good to excellent for rainbows, Dollies, and Arctic char.
Northern Pike
- In the Naknek and Alagnak drainages fishing is reported as fair to good.
- In the Wood River Lake system fish continue to be caught in shallow weedy bays.
Saltwater Fishing
Halibut
- In the Nushagak Bay area fishing should be fair off the coast of Protection Point.
