Week of June 8 to June 14
Freshwaters
King Salmon
- Naknek River and Alagnak River Drainages
- It is still early for kings in the Naknek River and Alagnak River Drainage. Sport fishing should begin to improve later this week.
- Nushagak River Drainage
- A few kings have been landed by anglers but it is still early. Sport fishing should improve later this week.
- The sonar near Portage Creek is operational; however, the counts have not yet been apportioned by species. Management will be in accordance with the Nushagak/Mulchatna King Salmon Management Plan. No substantial in season information will be available until after June 20. Productivity of Nushagak kings has been consistently good in recent years; therefore, ADF&G is cautiously optimistic for a good return in 2017.
- Togiak River and Nearby Drainages
- It is still early for kings in the Togiak. Sport fishing will not likely be productive until late June.
Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden, Arctic Grayling
- Naknek River and Alagnak River Drainages
- Fishing should be good to excellent this week as rainbow trout and Dolly Varden feed on out-migrating sockeye salmon smolt.
- Togiak River and Nearby Drainages
- Fishing should improve this week.
- Wood River Lakes System
- Fishing is very good to excellent in and at the outlets of larger tributaries of the lakes.
Northern Pike
- Naknek River and Alagnak River Drainages
- Fishing should be good to very good.
- Wood River Lake System
- Fishing should be good along lake and slough shores and in shallow weedy bays.
Saltwaters
Halibut
- Nushagak Bay
- Angling should be fair to very good off the coast of Protection Point.
