Saltwater Fishing
Marine effort is picking up and king salmon catches have been encouraging for this time of year. Decent king catches have been reported on both the south and north end areas. 

A few cohos have also started to make an appearance in the local marine fishery and they should continue to build over the summer.

Anglers are reminded that there have been several news releases issued regarding king salmon limits for the region and the Ketchikan area. These can be accessed by the links on this page.

Freshwater Fishing
Steelhead runs are winding down rapidly with water temperatures increasing and many fish spawning and returning to saltwater. While fewer steelhead are available, cutthroat and rainbow trout fishing will continue to improve.
Roadside anglers should try Ward Creek for steelhead, or if remote fishing is on your agenda, give the Naha River, McDonald Lake, or Fish Creek a try.

Dolly Varden fishing along the roadside/shoreline should continue to improve as water temperatures warm and Dolly Varden migrate from overwintering lakes. Lake outlets and streams that connect to the salt water are prime places to harvest these fish in the spring.
