Description: The Orzinksi Lake weir is located near the outlet of Orzinski Lake, about 1 km upstream of the river’s terminus in Orzinski Bay, in the Stepovak Bay region of the Southeastern District Mainland. The weir is about 26 m in length and the water depth varies from about 0.3 to 0.6m. Salmon were first counted through the weir constructed in 1929 and operated annually by the federal government through 1941. Since its reinstatement in 1990, the weir has been operated annually from early June through late July. The Orzinski Lake weir is an extremely useful management tool in the executing of the Southeastern District Mainland Fishery.
