Regulatory changes for Bristol Bay Sport Fisheries

(Dillingham, AK) – The Department of Fish and Game is informing the public of regulatory changes to sport fisheries in the Bristol Bay area. At the 2026 Bristol Bay Board of Fisheries (BOF) meeting two proposals were adopted that modify sport fishing regulations. The changes that will be in effect beginning in the 2026 season are as follows:

In the Nushagak-Mulchatna River Drainage, bait and multiple hooks are prohibited from May 1 to July 31 when the Nushagak District King Salmon Stock of Concern Management Plan is in effect.

In the Naknek River Drainage, the annual limit for king salmon 28 inches or greater in length is reduced from 3 fish to 2 fish.

These changes will be included in the 2026 Southwest Alaska Sport Fishing Regulation Summary booklet.
