RECREATIONAL FISH STOCKING PLAN AVAILABLE FOR COMMENT

The Division of Sport Fish is now accepting public comment on its statewide fish stocking plan.

The division, with assistance from private nonprofit hatchery operators, plans to benefit recreational anglers by releasing approximately 7 million fish into Alaska waters every year for the next five years. The stocking plan outlines the location, number, and size/life stage for each species of fish we plan to stock.

Only fish from Division of Sport Fish hatchery facilities and from private nonprofit hatcheries which in cooperation with ADF&G produce fish to improve recreational fisheries are included in this plan.

The plan is posted on the agency's website at:
http://www.adfg.alaska.gov/index.cfm?adfg=fishingSportStockingHatcheries.stockingPlan under “Hatcheries and Stocking.” Copies of the plan are also available for review at Sport Fish management area offices.

Comments may be sent to Diane Loopstra in Anchorage at (907) 269-0294, or e-mailed to diane.loopstra@alaska.gov. Comments may also be mailed to Diane Loopstra, William Jack Hernandez Sport Fish Hatchery, 941 N. Reeve Blvd., Anchorage, AK, 99501.

The deadline for comment is January 15, 2013.
