TIMELY AND ACCURATE SUBMISSION OF 2006 LOGBOOK INFORMATION

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G), Division of Sport Fish would like to remind all sport fish charter and guide businesses and employed guides of the importance of accurate, complete and timely submission of logbook information reflecting active sport fishing charter and guided fishing trips. Changes to the recording and reporting requirements implemented this year are intended to improve the quality and accuracy of the logbook information being collected.

Operators are reminded that regulations require the weekly submission of logbook entries.  The due dates for each week of activity are printed on the inside of the front cover of the logbook.  It is the responsibility of the business owner (owner of the sport fish operators license) to ensure that all data for fishing activities in 2006 is submitted to ADF&G in the manner described in the logbook.  It is the responsibility of the guide to ensure that daily trip activity is accurately recorded as described in the logbook.

Operators will be subjected to random inspections of their logbooks by ADF&G staff and enforcement officers to check for accuracy, completeness and timely recording.  Logbook data sheets submitted to ADF&G are reviewed for completeness and timely submission.  Late logbook submission will be subjected to enforcement action.  Logbook compliance is an enforcement priority in 2006.

Logsheets with activity should be mailed to the Division of Sport Fish, RTS, 333 Raspberry Rd., Anchorage, Alaska  99518.
