(Kodiak) – The following sport fishing regulation changes adopted at the 2026 Alaska Peninsula – Aleutian Islands Alaska Board of Fisheries meeting will go into effect July 18:

• In Bering Sea drainages of the Alaska Peninsula and Aleutian Islands Area, the bag and possession limit for king salmon 20 inches or greater in length for Alaska residents is one fish with an annual limit of two fish. A harvest record is required as specified in 5 AAC 75.006. Non-residents may not possess or retain king salmon. Any king salmon caught by a non-resident must be released immediately;
• Only an unbaited, single hook, artificial lure or fly may be used from January 1 - July 25, except that in the Sandy River drainage only unbaited, single-hook artificial lures or flies may be used year-round.

The 2026 Southwest Alaska Sport Fishing Regulation Summary booklet (printed and online) reflects these new sport fishing regulations. Additionally, anglers should keep in mind that regulations may be modified inseason by emergency order.
