(Fairbanks) – The Chatanika River Personal Use Whitefish Spear Fishery Permit online lottery application period:

• Opens: Friday, August 1 at 12:01 a.m.
• Closes: Friday, August 15 at 11:59 p.m.
• Applicants must apply online at the ADF&G store. After you've filled in the required fields, click "Start Shopping." Then click on "Fishing & Shellfish Permits/Applications" and select "2025 Chatanika Whitefish Spear Lottery Application." Successful applicants will receive a confirmation email.

Only one online lottery entry per household is allowed. A 2025 resident sport fishing license (unless under 18 years of age) is required to enter the lottery. Any entry made during the two-week application period has the same chance of receiving a permit during the random draw.

There will be 300 permits issued. Lottery results will be announced via email and posted to the ADF&G website on Friday, August 29. Successful applicants will receive their permits via email and need to print and sign them before participating in the fishery.

The fishery will open at 12:01 a.m. Friday, September 12 and close at 11:59 p.m. Monday, October 13. There is an annual household limit of 10 whitefish with no size limits. The limit may include any combination of humpback whitefish, round whitefish, and least cisco.
