(Juneau) - The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, in collaboration with the U.S. Forest Service and Trout Unlimited, will host a free fishing event at Lena Cove on Saturday, June 28, from 10:00am to 12:30pm. Join us on Saturday at the King Salmon Shelter at Lena Cove for a free, family-friendly event celebrating fishing, learning, and enjoying time outdoors. This event is open to all ages, whether you’re an experienced angler or just getting started.
ADF&G staff will be on site providing a limited number of fishing rods and lures to loan for free, along with fun fish-themed coloring activities for kids. You’ll also find fish identification guides and helpful experts available to answer your fishing questions. With a low tide during the event, it's also a perfect opportunity to explore tidepools and discover intertidal life.
Fishing licenses are required for Alaska residents aged 18 and older, and for non-residents aged 16 and older. Children under those ages are not required to have a license.
Please note that parking at Lena Cove is limited, so we encourage carpooling with friends to make it a fun group outing. We hope you’ll join us for a great day at the beach filled with fishing, learning, and community!
