KARLUK RIVER DRAINAGE SOCKEYE SALMON BAG AND POSSESSION LIMIT INCREASES

Beginning at 12:01 a.m., Saturday, June 15, the bag and possession limit for sockeye salmon in the Karluk River drainage will increase to 10 fish per day, 10 in possession. The biological escapement goal (BEG) for early-run sockeye salmon in the Karluk River is 110,000-250,000. As of June 13, approximately 140,000 sockeye salmon have passed the Karluk River weir. Based on historical run timing, the department expects the final weir count to exceed the escapement goal for this stock. This emergency order will remain in effect until 11:59 p.m., Monday, July 15, 2013.
