Beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, the bag and possession limit for sockeye salmon 20 inches or greater in length in the Buskin River drainage will increase to five fish per day, five in possession.
The biological escapement goal for sockeye salmon in the Buskin River drainage is 5,000 – 8,000 fish. As of June 10, the weir count for sockeye salmon into Buskin Lake was approximately 4,000 fish. The department is now projecting the escapement will exceed 8,000 even if additional sport harvest opportunity is provided.
