200 household permits for the 2012 Chatanika River Personal Use Whitefish Spear Fishery will be issued on a first come, first served basis from the Fairbanks Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) office located at 1300 College Road beginning Monday,
August 20.
Only one permit will be issued per household. Permit applicants must be Alaska residents and have a valid resident sport fishing license.
Each household permit authorizes a harvest of 10 whitefish in that portion of the Chatanika River from the downstream side of the Elliott Highway Bridge to ADF&G markers located at the Trans-Alaska Pipeline crossing (approximately 7 river miles downriver from the bridge).
The 2012 Chatanika River Personal Use Whitefish Spear Fishery will be open from September 21 through October 21.
