Archived Sport Fishing Report
July 15, 2019
Effective 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2019 the king salmon sport fishery in all flowing waters of the Tanana River drainage will be restricted to catch-and-release. King salmon caught may not be removed from the water and must be released immediately. In addition, the use of bait is prohibited in all tributaries of the Tanana River drainage (including the Chena, Salcha, Chatanika, Nenana, and Goodpaster rivers).
Try fishing some of the over 90 stocked lakes in the Tanana drainage for some fun times with the family.
The mainstem Tanana River is high due to the glacial melt in the upper reaches.
Other rivers are low and clear, so Arctic grayling fishing should be excellent in the Chena River and its tributaries.
Remember that Arctic grayling fishing is catch and release only in the Chena River and all of its tributaries, including Badger Slough. Only 1 unbaited, single-hook artificial lure may be used.
Arctic grayling are being caught in the Delta Clearwater River. The bag and possession limit for Arctic grayling in the Delta Clearwater River is 1, which must be 12 inches or less. Only unbaited, artificial lures or flies may be used.
This report will be updated as conditions warrant.
Good fishing!
