Description: The Yentna River sockeye salmon sonar project external linkis located approximately 5.5 miles upstream from the mouth of the confluence of the Yentna and Susitna Rivers. The Yentna River drains into the Susitna River approximately 27 river miles upstream from Cook Inlet. Travel times for sockeye salmon are highly variable from Cook Inlet to the Yentna River sonar site, but probably average 2 to 4 days. Previous studies have indicated that approximately 50% of the sockeye salmon that enter the Susitna River escape into the Yentna River.
