PASAGSHAK RIVER DRAINAGE CLOSED TO SPORT FISHING FOR SOCKEYE SALMON

Effective 12:01 a.m., Friday, July 3, the Pasagshak River drainage is closed to sport fishing for sockeye salmon.

The escapement goal for sockeye salmon into the Pasagshak River drainage is 3,000 fish. As of June 30, the weir count was 436 sockeye salmon. Based on historical run timing, the department is not projecting to meet this goal. Therefore, sport fishing for sockeye salmon in the Pasagshak River drainage is closed until further notice. Harvest opportunity may be allowed by subsequent emergency order if weir counts of Pasagshak River sockeye salmon improve and indicate the escapement goal will be achieved.

For more information, contact the Division of Sport Fish office in Kodiak at (907) 486-1880.
