Requested Tracking Map
During the last fourteen days we have received locations for 2 bearded seals. Bearded seal BS15-07-M (blue line) has left Norton Sound, moved north through Bering Strait, and is near a patch of remnant sea ice in the southern Chukchi Sea. The second bearded seal, BS14-04-M (green line), was tagged on the Koyuk River in September of 2014. We last received a location for this seal in mid-July of 2015. After ten months without receiving a location, this bearded seal is now located at the mouth of the Buckland River in Eschscholtz Bay (southeast Kotzebue Sound). Sea ice data are courtesy of the NASA Rapid Response Network, dated 29 May (http://www.natice.noaa.gov/products/).
