Report ID: Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Regional Operational Plan ROP.SF.2A.2015.18, Anchorage.
Abstract: Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) has monitored Chinook salmon passage in the Kenai River at river mile (RM) 8.6 using side-looking sonar technology from 1987 to present. The original acoustic technology, dual-beam sonar (1987-1994), was replaced by split-beam sonar (1995-2011), and most recently by dual-frequency identification sonar or "DIDSON" (2011-present). Starting in 2013, ADF&G operated 2 sonar stations, one at the historical RM 8.6 site and a second experimental site at RM 13.7. Starting in 2015, ADF&G will discontinue the RM 8.6 project and will only operate the RM 13.7 project. This plan covers the RM 13.7 project operations for the 2015 season.
