June 15, 2020

* Just a reminder to all our anglers, please do your part to help slow the spread of Covid-19 by following and reviewing the current State of Alaska Health Mandates in effect. This includes practicing social distancing while sport and personal use fishing and wearing a face covering when fishing and if you are needing fishing supplies from your local store as indicated in Health Alert 010.

Freshwater Fishing

  • Fishing for Arctic char is reported to be good to great at river mouths emptying into most Bristol Bay lakes as salmon smolt outmigrate.
  • Fishing for rainbow trout and Arctic grayling is reported to be fair to good in Bristol Bay rivers where fishing is currently open. Salmon have not arrived yet, so nymphs, streamers, and spinners (where allowed) should work well.
  • Fishing for northern pike is reported to be fair to good with fishing concentrated around weeded bays and sloughs.
  • A few king salmon have been reported in subsistence catches on the Dillingham beaches; however, fishable numbers are not expected inriver for at least another week.

Saltwater Fishing

  • Halibut fishing near Protection Point remains slow to fair with mixed success.
