King Salmon
King salmon fishing in the Situk River is Closed.
Red Salmon
Red fishing is just begining in the Situk River. A few fish are in the lower river below the weir in small groups. Fishing is slow but should pick up over the next couple of weeks.
Saltwaters
King Salmon
Sport fishing for king salmon is open in Yakutat Area marine waters. Sport fishing continues to be very good for king salmon. Anglers are having success in Yakutat Bay trolling green label herring behind flashers. Hot spots include The Pinnacles, Redfield Cove, Knight Island and Broken Oar Cove.
Halibut
The halibut fishing has been very good over the last week. Large fish are being brought in daily. Fishing has been the best out front at the entrance to Yakutat Bay near Ocean Cape. Fishing should continue to improve over the course of the summer. Soaking salted herring or salmon works the best.
Lingcod
Lingcod fishing has been slow. Try using rubber tube jigs over pinnacles.
Rockfish
Fishing for rockfish has been good. Lots of black rockfish have been caught over pinnacles and reefs during the last week. Try using metal jigs or mooching herring.
