DOG SALMON RIVER DRAINAGE SOCKEYE SALMON BAG AND POSSESSION LIMIT INCREASED

The sport fishing bag and possession limit for sockeye salmon, 20 inches or greater in length, in the Dog Salmon River drainage has been increased to 10 fish.  This emergency order will be in effect beginning 12:01 a.m., Tuesday, June 23.

The biological escapement goal for sockeye salmon into the Dog Salmon River drainage is 75,000 to 170,000 fish. As of June 21, the weir count for sockeye salmon through the Frazer Lake Fish Pass was 39,557. Based on historical run timing, the spawning escapement is projected to exceed the escapement goal for this stock. To provide additional sport harvest opportunity for sockeye salmon in the Dog Salmon River drainage, the bag and possession limit for sockeye salmon, 20 inches or greater in length, is increased to 10 fish.
