Effective 12:01a.m., Friday, July 18, the Pasagshak River drainage is closed to sport fishing for sockeye salmon.
The escapement goal for sockeye salmon into the Pasagshak River drainage is 3,000 fish. As of July 14, the weir count was 410 sockeye salmon. Based on historical run timing, the department is not projecting to meet the goal. Therefore, sport fishing for sockeye salmon in the Pasagshak River drainage is closed until further notice. Harvest opportunity may be allowed by subsequent emergency order if continued inseason assessment of Pasagshak River sockeye salmon indicates the escapement goal will be achieved.
