ALASKA BOARD OF FISHERIES ADOPTS CHANGES TO BRISTOL BAY AREA SPORT FISHING REGULATIONS

The Alaska Board of Fisheries adopted changes to sport fishing regulations for the Bristol Bay Area in 2016. Changes affecting freshwater fisheries are summarized below as a service to anglers and not as a complete summary of all sport fishing regulations.

All Bristol Bay freshwaters:
• “No chumming” regulation amended to include only sport fishing guides and guided anglers.

Naknek River Drainage:
• Big Creek opened to catch-and-release for king salmon from May 1 - July 31.

• The Naknek River within a one-quarter mile radius of Big Creek opened to retention of king salmon from May 1 - July 31.
