The Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADFG), Division of Sport Fish recently produced an educational video, How to Fish for Klutina River Red Salmon.

In this twelve-minute video, Scott Maclean, fishery biologist, shows how to fish for red (sockeye) salmon in the Klutina River. In this video, Scott covers:

• the tackle and techniques for the ‘plop, drift, pluck’ method using spin fishing, bait casting, and fly fishing gear.
• legal access to the lower Klutina River.
• what is a legally hooked fish versus an illegally hooked fish.

The video will most benefit those who have never, or rarely, gone fishing for red salmon, however, seasoned anglers may also learn a new trick or two.
