Petersburg – The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Sport Fish today announced sport fishing in Blind Slough is now open. Anglers are reminded that specific area exemptions for Blind Slough, upstream of a line between Blind Point and Anchor point, remain in effect;

• Blind slough is closed to snagging
• Only unbaited, artificial lures or flies may be used from November 16-May 31
• King salmon limits are as follows:
  • 28” or greater in length – 2 daily, 2 in possession;
  • 28” or less in length- 2 daily, 2 in possession;
  • A king salmon 28 inches or greater in length harvested by a nonresident counts toward their annual limit and must be recorded on their harvest record.
• Blind Slough tributaries, including manmade hole, remain closed to salmon fishing, all salmon caught must be release immediately.

These area exceptions can also be found in the Southeast Alaska Sport Fishing Regulations Summary. For all species except King salmon, regional bag and possession limits apply within Blind Slough.

Blind Slough was closed to sport fishing on August 1st, 2014 to protect King salmon broodstock destined for Crystal Lake Hatchery. King salmon broodstock is currently being collected. There is no longer a need to prohibit sport fishing in Blind Slough.
