KIDS’ FISH AND GAME FUN DAY WILL TAKE PLACE ON SATURDAY, MAY 16TH

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) will hold Kids’ Fish and Game Fun Day; Saturday, May 16th from 11 AM to 4 PM, adjacent to the ADF&G office at 1300 College Road on Creamer’s Refuge in Fairbanks. ADF&G biologists, many outdoor organizations, agencies, and businesses will be there with information and hands-on outdoor activities for kids.

The Kids Fishing Pond will be stocked with rainbow trout and Arctic grayling. All fishing rods, tackle, and bait will be provided. Anglers under the age of 16 are invited to fish. Anyone who catches a tagged fish during the event wins a rod & reel combo! The electronic shooting range will be present, so visitors can practice their marksmanship skills. Those attending the event can also:

Practice spin casting and fly casting;
Watch retriever dogs in action;
Find out about bear safety;
Enter the wonderful world of aquatic insects;
Shoot a muzzleloader;
Match some tracks to the animals that made them;
Use water colors to paint a picture of a trout;
Learn about firearm safety;
And much more!
