NUSHAGAK-MULCHATNA DRAINAGE COHO SPORT FISHING BAG AND POSSESSION LIMIT INCREASED

The sport fishing bag and possession limit for coho salmon in all waters of the Nushagak-Mulchatna River drainage, excluding the Wood River drainage, is being increased to ten fish per day; ten in possession. This emergency order will be in effect 12:01 a.m., Thursday, August 7, 2014. The limits for pink, sockeye, and chum salmon in combination remains at five per day, five in possession, and are in addition to the limits for coho salmon.

The escapement of coho salmon in the Nushagak River has exceeded the escapement goal of 60,000-120,000 fish. Through August 5, over 286,000 coho salmon are estimated to have passed the Portage Creek sonar.
