Alaska Board of Game to Meet in Nome, November 13-16, 2009

The Alaska Board of Game will meet November 13-16, 2009 in Nome at the Mini-Convention Center to consider over 30 proposals regarding hunting and trapping regulations in the Arctic and Western regions (Game Managements Units 18, 22, 23, and 26A). 

Proposals have been submitted by the Department of Fish and Game, state advisory committees, and the general public seeking adjustments to hunting and trapping regulations in the Arctic and Western regions. Issues to be addressed by the board include hunting and trapping seasons, bag limits, methods and means, subsistence hunting, nonresident permit and guide requirements; and restricted areas.

The board will take oral public testimony beginning Friday, November 13. Anyone wishing to testify before the board must sign up at the meeting site by Saturday, November 14, at 10:00 am. Public testimony will continue until everyone who has signed up has been given the opportunity to be heard. 

Deliberations on the proposals will begin following public testimony and continue through the remainder of the meeting. The proposals, along with the meeting notice, agenda, and the “roadmap” can be viewed online at www.boards.adfg.state.ak.us.

The deadline for providing written comments on proposals for inclusion in Board of Game member’s meeting binders is Friday, October 30 at 5:00 pm. However, written comments on specific proposals are accepted up until the board begins deliberating on the proposal.  Written comments can be mailed to:  Alaska Board of Game, Boards Support Section, P.O.
