Alaska Board of Fisheries to Meet in Anchorage, January 10-18

(JUNEAU) - The Alaska Board of Fisheries will meet January 10-12, 2008, at the Egan Center in Anchorage, to consider proposals concerning regulatory changes to the Chignik Area subsistence and commercial fisheries.  The Board will also meet January 14-18, 2008, at the Elk’s Lodge in Kodiak, to consider proposals concerning the Kodiak Area subsistence, commercial, and sport fisheries.

Proposals have been submitted by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, local advisory committees, and the general public seeking adjustments to the fishing regulations and management plans for the Chignik and Kodiak area fisheries.   For more detailed information on the subject matter, members of the public are encouraged to read the meeting notice which can be viewed on-line at: http://www.boards.adfg.state.ak.us/fishinfo/index.php.

The board will take oral public testimony at both meetings.  Anyone wishing to testify before the Board on Chignik Area topics must sign up at the meeting site in Anchorage before 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 10.  Anyone wishing to testify before the board on Kodiak Area topics must sign up at the meeting site in Kodiak before 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 14.  Public testimony will continue until everyone who has signed up has been given the opportunity to be heard.  Members of the public will be given five minutes each for personal testimony before the board. 

Written comments on specific proposals will be accepted and distributed to members during the meeting up until they begin deliberation on the proposal.  Written comments can be mailed to:  Alaska Board of Fisheries, Boards Support Section, P.O. Box 115526, Juneau, AK 99811-5526, or faxed to (907) 465-6094.
