Requested Tracking Map
During the last fourteen days we have received locations for 1 bearded and 9 spotted seals. Bearded seal BS18-01-F (green square) has moved north, through the Bering Strait and into Kotzebue Sound. Three spotted seals tagged in the Beaufort Sea remain in the central Chukchi Sea. The remaining spotted seals that were north of the Bering Strait during the open-water season are moving south, ahead of the advancing sea ice. Spotted seal SS17-02-M (green circle) moved from the barrier islands near Scammon Bay to St. Lawrence Island. Sea ice data are courtesy of the U.S. National Ice Center, dated 5 November (http://www.natice.noaa.gov/products/daily_products.html).
