Kachemak Bay Research Reserve's pre-K - 16 Discovery Lab programs at the AK Islands & Ocean Visitor Center feature 7 month-long topics between September and May.*

We no longer offer grade-specific lab or field programming as in years past, with the exception of the following 2 coastal science programs:

  • 1-hour outdoor Estuary Ecology Hike in Sept/Oct and Apr/May
  • 1-hour indoor Careers in Marine Science program year-round

Teachers are asked to schedule coastal science programs with us on a specific BookingBlitz day at the beginning of the school year (late August, with the date varying by school district). Bookings can be made after the BookingBlitz with the understanding that our calendar may not have openings for all dates requested. Contact Carmen Field for more information or to schedule education programs at the Research Reserve.

Upcoming Discovery Labs are posted on the Alaska Islands & Ocean Visitor Center calendar.
