I am the lead technician for a collaborative effort to learn more about the watershed of the lower Kenai Peninsula. This work includes investigations of the headwaters and estuaries connected to Kachemak Bay. During the summer my time is spent coordinating and participating in data collection efforts in the field. In the winter my time is devoted to data analysis and assisting with other ongoing projects at KBRR.
Prior to working at the Research Reserve I obtained my MS in Marine Science focusing on Ichthyology. I have always been intrigued by the ocean and its scaly inhabitants. Previous projects I have participated in include: life history studies, zooplankton, sea cucumber, and tanner crab surveys, and tagging studies for a variety of fishes.
Although I grew up in Homer I am continuously learning new things about the biological systems of the Kenai Peninsula. I hope that my efforts to improve our understanding of this area will provide managers with information they need, and inspire others to learn more about the area they live in.
