Hunting Conditions

1) PERMIT: The RM572 permit shall be in the possession of the permittee while hunting or transporting moose and shall be exhibited to any person authorized to enforce state and federal laws who requests to see it. The permit is NONTRANSFERABLE.

2) WHEN: The permit is valid from August 20 - September 20.

3) WHERE: Kalgin Island in Unit 15B. The permittee is solely responsible for securing permission to trespass on private land.

4) BAG LIMIT: One (1) moose. If you have killed a moose anywhere in Alaska during the current regulatory year, this permit is invalid.

5) REPORTING: SUCCESSFUL hunters report in person to Soldotna, by phone (907-260-2950) or online within 2 days.

UNSUCCESSFUL hunters or permittees who DID NOT HUNT shall return the completed harvest report, either in person at an ADF&G office in Anchorage, Soldotna, Homer or Palmer, by mail to the Palmer office, or online (http://hunt.alaska.gov) within 15 days of the close of the season.

6) SAFETY: The permittee is aware that hunter crowding may be a problem in this hunt, and that ADF&G advises the use of hunter orange clothing. The permittee is aware that Kalgin Island can be accessed by boat or aircraft only, and that travel and landing conditions may be hazardous.

7) PENALTY FOR FAILURE TO REPORT: If you fail to report, you will not be eligible to receive any permits (drawing, tier II, and registration, including Tier I Nelchina Caribou) during the next regulatory year. In addition, your name will be turned over to the Alaska Wildlife Troopers for enforcement action.

8) REQUIREMENTS: Attention Kenai Peninsula Moose Hunters: All hunters, including RM572 permit holders, must now complete an online Moose Hunter Orientation on determining legal game animals before hunting moose in Units 7 or 15 on the Kenai Peninsula or Kalgin Island. This includes ALL drawing, registration, general season, targeted or Tier II moose hunts. Take the orientation online and print your completion card at hunt.alaska.gov (Quick Links > Online Courses & Quizzes). 9) ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS: Preserving the quality of game meat is one of the hunter''s chief responsibilities. Keep the meat CLEAN, COOL and DRY.
