HUNT AREA: Game Management Unit 4, Outside drainages.

SEASON DATES: March 15 - May 31.

LEGAL ANIMAL: One brown bear, except cubs, or females accompanied by cubs.
Hunters are encouraged to target male bears. Careful preparation and observation are necessary to differentiate male bears from female bears.

PERMIT, LICENSE, LOCKING-TAG, TAG RECORD: You must sign the back of your permit prior to hunting. While hunting, you must have in possession: your RB088 permit, your current Alaska hunting license, and your big game metal locking-tag for brown bear, and the associated Big Game Tag Record.

IF YOU KILL A BEAR:
- You must immediately validate your permit by cutting out the month and date of harvest. Before leaving the kill site, you must also affix your big game metal locking-tag onto a part of the animal required to be salvaged.
- Salvage: You must salvage the skull and entire hide (with evidence of sex and claws naturally attached).
- Reporting harvest: you must report to ADF&G in Sitka or Douglas, or report online at http://hunt.alaska.gov, within 10 days of kill.
- Sealing: You must present the skinned-out skull and the hide (with evidence of sex and claws attached) to an ADF&G-authorized sealer within 30 days of kill. Skull and hide must be unfrozen at the time of sealing.

IF YOU DO NOT KILL A BEAR, OR DID NOT HUNT: You must submit a completed hunt report to ADF&G, or report online at http://hunt.alaska.gov, within the 15 days of the close of season.

IF YOU FAIL TO REPORT AS REQUIRED: You will not be eligible to receive any permits during the next regulatory year and you may face additional enforcement action.
