Public Involvement Opportunities - 2012-2014 Program

Opportunities were provided for public input as the 2012-2014 Chinook Fishery Mitigation Program was developed. Comments were received on the types of projects that would mitigate the economic impacts of the 15% reduction in Chinook harvest levels and the allocation of funds to the various program components. Written comments received were made available to the Stakeholder Panel and opportunities for public comment were provided at each panel meeting (January 19, May 2-3, and May 15, 2012).

A public information meeting regarding the mitigation program was held on February 26, 2012 in Ketchikan, Alaska, coincident with the Alaska Board of Fisheries meeting. Public input was also received at a round-table discussion of the issues involved with potential expansion of Southeast Alaska hatchery Chinook production held in Juneau on April 10, 2012.
